WHEN YOU WERE EVERYTHING COVER REVEAL
Ashley Woodfolk's WHEN YOU WERE EVERYTHING (on sale 3/10/2020) tells an emotional story about the beauty of self-forgiveness, the promise of new beginnings, and the courage it takes to remain open to love - alternating between the past and present to show what went wrong for two friends, and how this affects them now.
I was lucky enough to see this gorgeous cover beforehand (Bex Glendining (illustrator) and Angela Carlino (designer)).
You can't rewrite the past, but you can always choose to start again.
It’s been twenty-seven days since Cleo and Layla’s friendship imploded.
Nearly a month since Cleo realized they’ll never be besties again.
Now, Cleo wants to erase every memory, good or bad, that tethers her to her ex–best friend. But pretending Layla doesn’t exist isn’t as easy as Cleo hoped, especially after she’s assigned to be Layla’s tutor. Despite budding new friendships with other classmates—and a raging crush on a gorgeous boy named Dom—Cleo’s turbulent past with Layla comes back to haunt them both.
Alternating between timelines of Then and Now, When You Were Everythingblends past and present into an emotional story about the beauty of self-forgiveness, the promise of new beginnings, and the courage it takes to remain open to love.
Now, I’ve had my fair share of friendship breakups, and trust me when I say there’s no other feeling like it - like your heart’s been ripped out of your chest and you feel that hollow ache because you’re missing something. But I can tell you that time heals all wounds, even if sometimes memories can be painful. I don’t have any pictures with me and any of my friendship breakups, but I figure it’s healthy not to dwell on things and forget about the people who ARE still with me.
The next picture I have includes some childhood friends that I’ve known for over a decade. We’ve grown up with each other, and I can’t wait for our next big adventures.
